Have you neglected to treat that window over your kitchen sink?  The kitchen window tends to be neglected like a step child.  You may see an occasional plant or vase hanging around but rarely do homeowner consider giving such a small space makeover.

Because the kitchen window curtain is such a small space its fairly easy give it a quick makeover and it will not even take much of your time.  Consider these tips as you embark upon your makeover.

There are only four parts of the window area that you can change; the wall around the window, the adjacent cabinets, the counter and the window itself.

If space allows consider adding decorative pictures that complement the current theme in your kitchen.  It’s quite appropriate to add borders or small tiles that don’t overwhelm the space.

The counter area is perfect for adding live or silk plants.  Consider adding decorative baskets to house some of the clutter such as sink stoppers or other small items laying on the counter.  The goal is to blend in the sink area around the kitchen window with the existing decor.  Also, decorative pottery is a nice addition that blends in nicely.

Try frosting the glass or replacing it with stained glass.  Home improvement stores sell inexpensive plastic cling that will change the color of your window.  These clings are easy to install and can be chosen to more closely match your kitchen decor.  Sun catchers can add a nice appeal to any window as well.

Both the window cabinets and window headers can be altered to give your window a new look.  Hang small pictures on the side of the cabinets or add fabric to the header to bring out your kitchen curtains.

Lastly don’t forget to update your curtains if it’s been awhile since you’ve changed them.  Why not add some beaded trim to the bottom of your curtains or a nice sheer panel would also be nice.  No matter the size of your kitchen window just by adding a few decorative elements you can quickly and easily update your kitchen.

The look of our bathroom is something to think about when decorating a new home.  A bathroom is complex.  When thinking about the bathroom you not only take styling into account, but also practicality, and the appropriateness of materials to the type of environment you will encounter.

One of the trickiest aspects of decorating a bathroom is the window treatment.  There are so many alternatives to choose from when thinking about bathroom window curtains.  You can use patterned glass or an ornate valence on sheer curtains.  You can also use cotton fabrics, blinds, indoor shutters, and other fun and creative ways to dress your windows.

Of course all of this depends on what you like and what you need.  Do you want lots of light?  Then perhaps a sheer material or patterned glass will work.  Do you expect a lot of moisture?  Is the window inside the shower?  Then maybe vinyl waterproof bathroom window curtains are the best way to go.

I guess the key message here is that when thinking about window treatments for your bathroom you have to take into account that the conditions in a bathroom can vary drastically from cool and dry, to worm and humid very quickly.  Also you might have to deal with steam and the occasional splash.  Conditions in a bathroom are more extreme than you think, so you have to take this into account when you pick your window treatments or else you will be in for whole lot of trouble.  Mold, discoloration, unpleasant smells, these are all possible short term consequences of picking the wrong setup for your bathroom windows.

The same is true of a cordless knife however. You have all the advantages of the electric knife and the ability to take it wherever you like. If you want to carve your turkey or joint of meat at the dining table you can do so, without worrying whether the cord is long enough to reach the power supply or that someone will trip on it.

Along with this freedom, come a few disadvantages however. The cordless knife is generally heavier than the corded version as it contains the battery pack and you may find this unwieldy to hold for any length of time. Also, these cordless knives, seem prone to running out of power just when you need them. You have to remember to keep them charged, of course, but you may also find that one charge is not long enough for a task you have in mind with some knives.
